Maha Kumbh 2025 Concludes with Sacred Maha Shivratri Snan

“The grand festival of faith has given the world a message of unity” – CM Yogi Adityanath

Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh), February 26: The Maha Kumbh 2025, the world’s largest religious gathering, concluded on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri with the final ‘Shahi Snan’ at the holy Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj. The grand festival, which began on Paush Purnima (January 13), witnessed an unprecedented participation of over 66 crore devotees from India and across the world.

“This is an unforgettable moment in world history. The Maha Kumbh-2025, organized under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is concluding with the sacred Maha Shivratri bath today, carrying forward the message of unity and devotion,” Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath posted on X.

A Historic Gathering of Faith

CM Yogi Adityanath hailed Maha Kumbh 2025 as a symbol of spiritual harmony and devotion, thanking saints, religious leaders, and the people of Prayagraj for their overwhelming participation.

“More than 66 crore 21 lakh devotees have taken a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam between Paush Purnima and Maha Shivratri. This divine gathering has united millions and spread the message of faith and peace to the world,” he added.

Expressing gratitude, CM Yogi praised the efforts of the Kumbh Mela administration, local authorities, sanitation workers, security forces, and volunteers, acknowledging their dedication in ensuring a seamless and spiritually enriching experience for the pilgrims.

“Special thanks to the people of Prayagraj, whose patience and hospitality mesmerized everyone. May Maa Ganga and Lord Beni Madhav bless you all,” he added.

Final Shahi Snan and Devotee Participation

The last royal bath (Shahi Snan) on Maha Shivratri was a sight to behold, with flower petals being showered on devotees as they took the sacred dip in the Sangam—the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mystical Saraswati rivers.

According to SSP Maha Kumbh Rajesh Dwivedi, the turnout was historic:

“Nobody wants to miss this opportunity. Since midnight, a massive inflow of devotees has been witnessed. With well-planned arrangements, the pilgrimage has been smooth, and as of today, we have reached the 65 crore mark.”

The Maha Shivratri snan marked the culmination of the grand event, following other important bathing days, including:

  • Makar Sankranti (January 14)
  • Mauni Amavasya (January 29)
  • Basant Panchami (February 3)
  • Maghi Purnima (February 12)

Spiritual Significance of Maha Shivratri

Maha Shivratri, the “Night of Lord Shiva,” is observed with great reverence across India. On this sacred occasion, devotees fast, chant mantras, and perform abhishek (ritual bathing of Shiva Linga) at temples.

In the Kumbh Mela area, thousands of pilgrims thronged Shiva temples, seeking divine blessings and offering prayers for prosperity and liberation.

As Maha Kumbh 2025 concludes, it leaves behind a legacy of devotion, unity, and cultural grandeur, reaffirming India’s rich spiritual heritage on a global stage.
