Maha Kumbh 2025: Ministry of Tourism Unveils Initiatives to Boost Global Tourism

Luxury accommodations, enhanced connectivity, and multilingual support to elevate visitor experience at the world’s largest religious gathering

New Delhi, January 12: The Maha Kumbh 2025, renowned as the world’s largest religious congregation, is set to transcend its spiritual essence and emerge as a global tourism platform. The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, has announced a series of initiatives aimed at boosting both domestic and international tourism during the event.

Held every 12 years at one of four sacred locations in India, the Maha Kumbh 2025 will take place in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, from January 13 to February 26, 2025. With millions of visitors, including devotees, tourists, and researchers expected, the event offers an unparalleled opportunity to showcase India’s cultural and spiritual heritage.

Tourism Highlights of Maha Kumbh 2025

  1. Incredible India Pavilion
    • A sprawling 5,000 sq. ft. pavilion will be established to cater to foreign tourists, scholars, photographers, and journalists.
    • Features include immersive exhibits on India’s cultural heritage and a Dekho Apna Desh People’s Choice Poll for visitors to vote on favorite destinations.
  2. Multilingual Tourist Infoline
    • A toll-free helpline (1800111363 or 1363) will assist tourists in 10 international languages and major Indian languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, Assamese, and Marathi.
  3. Luxury Accommodation and Curated Packages
    • The Indian Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) has set up 80 luxury accommodations at Tent City, Prayagraj.
    • IRCTC will also offer luxury tents, while curated travel packages are being promoted through a digital brochure distributed via Indian Missions and Tourism Offices.
  4. Enhanced Connectivity
    • Partnering with Alliance Air, the Ministry has improved air connectivity to Prayagraj from multiple cities, ensuring smoother travel for domestic and international visitors.
  5. Social Media Campaign
    • Special hashtags like #Mahakumbh2025 and #SpiritualPrayagraj are being used to encourage sharing of experiences.
    • A large-scale photoshoot and videography project will capture the grandeur of Maha Kumbh, promoting Prayagraj as a premier spiritual and cultural destination.

Collaborations for Maha Kumbh Success

The Ministry of Tourism has teamed up with key stakeholders, including the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (UPSTDC), IRCTC, and ITDC, to enhance the event’s scale. The tour packages and services are tailored to meet the diverse needs of visitors, ensuring a seamless and memorable experience.
