Mahakumbh 2025: Vegetarianism Awareness Rally, Northeastern Saints’ Camp Inaugurated

Baba Jai Gurudev's followers promote vegetarianism, while northeastern saints gather for the first time at Mahakumbh in Prayagraj.

Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh), January 12: The Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, more than a spiritual gathering, serves as a platform to spread impactful social messages. A day before the grand bathing festival begins, followers of Baba Jai Gurudev organized a vegetarian awareness rally in the Mahakumbh Nagar area, inspiring the masses with their call to embrace a vegetarian lifestyle.

Chanting slogans like “Baba Ji Ka Kehna Hai, Shakahari Rehna Hai” (Baba says, be vegetarian), the devotees actively encouraged pilgrims to adopt vegetarianism for health, compassion, and environmental benefits. They highlighted how a plant-based diet promotes humanity's welfare and safeguards against diseases and pandemics.

The rally received overwhelming support from the attendees, with many raising their hands in agreement with the message. Prominent figures, including Professor OP Garg and other followers of Baba Jai Gurudev, participated in spreading this message of compassion and healthy living.

Northeastern Saints’ Camp Inaugurated

On the same day, Uttar Pradesh Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi inaugurated the Northeastern Saints’ Camp at the Prag Jyotishpur area of Mahakumbh Mela. The camp marks the first significant participation of northeastern saints and artists in the Mahakumbh.

The event witnessed the presence of Mahamandaleshwar Swami Keshav Das Maharaj of Yogashram Bihlangini, Assam, along with VHP patron Dinesh Chandra and a large number of devotees.

Minister Nandi lauded the active involvement of northeastern saints in the spiritual event. Swami Keshav Das Maharaj noted the historic significance of the occasion, emphasizing that it is the first time such a large representation from the northeastern region has joined the Mahakumbh.

The Mahakumbh 2025 is expected to host millions of devotees and serve as a confluence of spirituality, culture, and social awareness.
