Alinagar MLA mixes folk music with politics, predicts Mahayuti mayor

January 11, 2026: Bihar’s Alinagar MLA and popular folk singer Maithili Thakur has taken to the streets of Mumbai to campaign for the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections. During her outreach, she confidently declared that the next BMC mayor would be from the Mahayuti alliance, signalling the coalition’s ambitions in the crucial civic polls.

The young legislator is engaging directly with voters, using music as her primary medium of connection. By performing songs in Marathi, Maithili is reaching out to local residents in a culturally familiar way, blending political messaging with folk performances to connect with people across different communities.
