In Bihar, residents rushed out of their homes and apartments in fear as buildings and structures swayed due to the tremors. Similar scenes of panic were reported in Assam, though no immediate reports of casualties or damage to property have been received so far.
Authorities and disaster management teams in the affected regions are on high alert, closely monitoring the situation for aftershocks or secondary hazards.
The Himalayan region, where the Indian and Eurasian plates meet, remains one of the most earthquake-prone zones in the world. Experts consistently warn of the risk of high-magnitude quakes in the area, underscoring the need for robust disaster preparedness and infrastructure resilience.
Local authorities in Bihar and Assam have urged residents to remain calm but vigilant and follow official safety guidelines. Meanwhile, rescue and relief teams remain on standby in case of further tremors or emerging damage reports.
The situation continues to be monitored closely, with updates expected as more information emerges.
