April 15, 2025: A massive fire erupted at Lok Bandhu Raj Narayan Hospital in Lucknow late Monday night, triggering chaos and panic among patients and staff. The blaze originated on the second floor of the ICU building, close to the female ward, prompting swift action from emergency responders and hospital authorities.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was quick to seek a detailed report, while Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak rushed to the site. He confirmed that nearly 200 patients were safely evacuated and shifted to other facilities, including KGMU, Lohia, Balrampur, and Civil Hospital.

“The health department is on high alert. Doctors and paramedical staff acted promptly to relocate the patients,” said Pathak.

District Magistrate Vishak G and DCP South Nipun Agarwal also confirmed that the evacuation was completed successfully. The cause of the fire is under investigation, with short-circuit suspected.

Rescue Operation and Response

According to officials, firefighters and police teams faced initial challenges due to narrow roads, which delayed access for larger vehicles. Eventually, six smaller fire tenders were deployed from an alternate entrance.

“Our team got the alert at 10 PM. Firefighters managed to contain the blaze and evacuate patients safely,” said DCP Agarwal.

The hospital’s medical superintendent, Dr. AS Tripathi, noted that while the flames were controlled, smoke accumulation on the second floor made the rescue more difficult.

“Clearing the smoke has been a priority. Thankfully, there have been no casualties,” added Chief Fire Officer Mangesh Kumar.

The fire has now been fully extinguished. Authorities continue to monitor the situation and investigate the source of the incident.
