Meerut Murder: Inside Prison- Accused Face Drug Withdrawal, Stay Isolated from Inmates

Muskaan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla, accused of murdering Saurabh Rajput, show withdrawal symptoms and remain unresponsive to fellow inmates. The jail has denied their request to stay together.

March 23, 2025: Meerut – Muskaan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla, accused of the gruesome murder of Muskaan’s husband Saurabh Rajput, are now under judicial custody and spending their days in Chaudhary Charan Singh district jail in near-isolation.

According to prison sources, both Muskaan and Sahil are showing signs of drug withdrawal, appearing restless and unwilling to speak to other inmates. A medical examination revealed they were addicts, and both have since been enrolled in the jail’s de-addiction counselling sessions.

In a startling revelation, the duo reportedly requested to be kept in the same jail barrack, a demand the authorities denied citing the prison manual. “There is no provision for contact between male and female barracks,” said Senior Jail Superintendent Viresh Raj Sharma.

Muskaan has also informed jail authorities that her family has refused to hire a lawyer for her. She has requested a government-appointed legal representative for her case.

🚨 Murder Case Background

Saurabh Rajput, a former Merchant Navy officer working in London, had returned home to Meerut last month to celebrate his daughter’s birthday. On March 4, police say Muskaan drugged him and, with Sahil’s help, stabbed and dismembered his body into 15 pieces, concealing the remains in a drum filled with wet cement.

The couple then fled to Himachal Pradesh, using Saurabh’s phone to post misleading social media updates. They returned to Meerut days later, where Muskaan confessed to the murder to her parents, who eventually alerted the police.

Police sources confirm that Muskaan and Sahil are being monitored closely. Muskaan reportedly refused food on her first day in jail but has resumed eating. So far, no family or friends have visited either of them, and their behaviour remains withdrawn.

💔 A Troubled Relationship

Muskaan and Saurabh had a love marriage in 2016 and share a six-year-old daughter. Their relationship had grown strained over the years, especially after Saurabh discovered Muskaan’s affair with Sahil in 2019. Though he considered divorce, he chose not to go through with it for the sake of his daughter.

Muskaan’s parents claim their daughter feared Saurabh would end her relationship with Sahil and stop their drug consumption. In contrast, Saurabh’s family has accused Muskaan of marrying him for money and say she never bonded with them.
