Meet Sabih Khan: The Moradabad-Born Leader Taking Over as Apple’s New COO

July 9, 2025: Apple has announced that Sabih Khan, a veteran with 30 years of experience at the company, will take over as Chief Operating Officer (COO) later this month, succeeding Jeff Williams. Born in Moradabad, India, Khan has played a pivotal role in shaping Apple’s global supply chain and operations.

Khan joined Apple in 1995, bringing experience from GE Plastics, and steadily rose through the ranks to become Senior Vice President of Operations in 2019. Reporting directly to Williams, Khan was instrumental in expanding Apple’s manufacturing footprint across the US and Asia, pioneering new manufacturing technologies, and effectively managing global supply chain challenges.

Apple CEO Tim Cook praised Khan as “a brilliant strategist” and “one of the central architects of Apple’s supply chain.” Under Khan’s leadership, Apple has significantly reduced its carbon footprint by over 60% through green manufacturing initiatives and strengthened supplier responsibility programs aimed at improving working conditions worldwide.

Jeff Williams, who has been with Apple for nearly three decades, will continue to oversee the design team and Apple Watch projects until his retirement later this year, after which those teams will report directly to Cook. Williams expressed full confidence in Khan, calling him “the most talented operations executive on the planet.”

As COO, Khan will oversee Apple’s vast operations, including manufacturing, logistics, sustainability, and supplier ethics, ensuring that Apple products maintain their high standards globally.

Khan holds dual bachelor’s degrees in mechanical engineering and economics from Tufts University and a master’s in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). His journey from Moradabad to leading operations at Cupertino highlights the global talent fueling Apple’s innovation and success.
