Metro Pillar Section Collapses In Mumbai’s Mulund
Autorickshaw crushed, several injured in Line 4 construction mishap
February 14, 2026: A section of an under-construction metro pillar collapsed in Mumbai’s Mulund area on Saturday afternoon, crashing onto a moving autorickshaw and injuring multiple people. The incident occurred around 12:20 pm on LBS Road near the Johnson & Johnson factory when a portion of the cement structure for Mumbai Metro Line 4 suddenly gave way. The falling debris also struck a nearby car, causing partial damage.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud crash as chunks of concrete and metal reinforcement fell, trapping the autorickshaw beneath the rubble. Officials said three to four individuals sustained injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. The exact condition of the injured has not been disclosed.
The collapse led to temporary traffic disruption along the busy LBS Road stretch, with vehicles diverted as authorities cleared debris and examined the structural stability of the construction site. An inquiry into the cause of the incident is expected as officials assess safety protocols at the project.
