
Millions Take Holy Dip on Basant Panchami at Maha Kumbh 2025
By 8 AM on Monday, a historic milestone was reached as 6.2 million pilgrims had already taken a dip in the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers. The total number of devotees who have participated in the sacred bathing rituals since the beginning of Maha Kumbh has now crossed 350 million (35 crores), with expectations of surpassing 500 million before the festival concludes.
To honor the occasion, helicopters showered flower petals on the devotees, creating a divine atmosphere at the world’s largest religious gathering.
Speaking to the media, Uttar Pradesh Minister AK Sharma stated that the state government has been continuously monitoring the arrangements to ensure the safety and comfort of the devotees.
“On the occasion of Basant Panchami, close to 4 crore people have taken a dip here since yesterday. We are ensuring proper crowd management, cleanliness, and traffic control. I have been inspecting the arrangements personally since Mauni Amavasya,” Sharma said.
He also emphasized that this Maha Kumbh represents “modern India and digital India,” with enhanced facilities and real-time crowd monitoring.
The overwhelming turnout at Maha Kumbh 2025 has reaffirmed its spiritual significance, drawing millions from across India and the world. With 23 days remaining, the total number of devotees is expected to break previous records.

On February 2, 12 million devotees took part in the sacred Snan, further increasing the total count.
Monday’s Shahi Snan witnessed processions of Akharas, saints, and Naga Sadhus, adding to the spiritual grandeur of the event. The sight of saffron-clad ascetics, chanting holy hymns, and marching towards the Sangam with divine enthusiasm captivated devotees and onlookers.
