Morning Walk Turns Fatal: Delhi Businessman Shot Dead by Bike-Borne Assailants

December 7, 2024: In a shocking incident in Delhi’s Shahdara district, a 52-year-old businessman was fatally shot by two bike-borne assailants on Saturday morning. The victim, identified as Sunil Jain, was returning home on a scooter after his morning walk at the Yamuna Sports Complex when he was ambushed.

According to police reports, the attackers fired seven to eight rounds at Jain before fleeing the scene. Jain, a resident of Krishna Nagar, owned a utensils business. His family claimed that he had no known personal rivalries, leaving the motive behind the attack unclear.

“The crime team has reached the spot, and further investigation is underway,” said the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Shahdara. The perpetrators remain at large.

Another Tragic Incident in Govindpuri

In a separate incident on Friday night, a minor dispute between neighbors in Delhi’s Govindpuri area escalated into a deadly altercation. The argument, allegedly over flushing a common toilet, turned violent when Bikham Singh stabbed three neighbors with a kitchen knife.

Among the victims, Sudheer succumbed to injuries, while Prem (22) and Sagar (20) are receiving treatment at a hospital. Police reports state that Sudheer sustained severe stab wounds to his chest and face.

Political Fallout

Reacting to the two incidents, AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal criticized the BJP-led administration, accusing it of failing to maintain law and order in the national capital.

“After the firing in Vishwas Nagar, now news of stabbing is coming from Govindpuri. Under the BJP rule, criminals have become completely fearless,” Kejriwal wrote on X.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has ramped up its criticism of the Centre, blaming it for the deteriorating safety in Delhi. These incidents come amidst an increasingly heated political climate as Delhi approaches its Assembly elections.

Authorities continue to investigate both cases while political leaders debate accountability for the rising crime rates.
