Nation Marks 7 Years Since Pulwama Attack
Tributes paid to 40 CRPF martyrs as security heightened in J&K
February 14, 2026: India is observing the seventh anniversary of the 2019 Pulwama terror attack, remembering the 40 CRPF personnel who lost their lives in one of the deadliest assaults on security forces in the region. On February 14, 2019, a suicide bomber rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into a CRPF convoy in Pulwama, triggering a massive blast that shook the nation. The attack was claimed by Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed, leading to heightened tensions between India and Pakistan and a significant shift in India’s counter-terror strategy.
On the anniversary, tributes are being paid at the CRPF Regimental Centre in Lethpora, where a memorial stands in honour of the fallen personnel. G. P. Singh, Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force, is scheduled to offer homage to the martyrs. Floral tributes and ceremonial honours mark the solemn occasion, reflecting the nation’s collective remembrance.
Security has been tightened across Jammu and Kashmir, with authorities maintaining a high alert. The day serves as a reminder of the sacrifice and resilience of the security forces, as citizens across the country pay respects to the brave hearts who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
