Maharashtra unit announces new office-bearers in organisational reshuffle

February 24, 2026: In a major organisational reshuffle, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Maharashtra unit has appointed first-time BMC corporator Navnath Ban as its chief spokesperson. State president Ravindra Chavan announced the decision on Tuesday, stating that Ban replaces Keshav Upadhye. The appointments come months after Chavan took charge, with the delay attributed to the model code of conduct and local body elections. He said the new state executive was finalised after consultations with senior leaders, including Amit Shah and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Chavan emphasised that the selection process considered the party’s constitution and the prevailing political situation in the state. He noted that while many dedicated karyakartas deserved opportunities, only a limited number of positions could be filled at this stage. Along with Ban’s appointment, the party announced new vice-presidents, general secretaries, secretaries and other key office-bearers as part of the revamped leadership structure.

Among the prominent appointments, MLA Atul Bhatkhalkar, Bharati Pawar and others have been named state vice-presidents, while MLC Niranjan Davkhare and several leaders were appointed general secretaries. Krishnaraj Mahadik will head the BJP Yuva Morcha, Chitra Wagh the Mahila Morcha, Yogesh Tilekar the OBC Morcha, and MLA Mihir Kotecha has been named state treasurer. The reshuffle signals a renewed organisational push ahead of upcoming political challenges in Maharashtra.
