‘New India Debates’ launched to engage youth in nation-building, event held in universities follows “unique format”

New Delhi [India]: In an outreach aimed at positively engaging with first-time voters and the youth, a programme has been launched in “a unique format” to debate the burning national issues and to trace India’s success stories in the last nine years.

The programme ‘New India Debates’, has been launched by New India Junction, a youth initiative, with each programme shot exclusively in different universities.

In each episode, the student debaters debate important national issues like the Uniform Civil Code, mental health and India’s democracy and the discussion is followed by an interaction with a chief guest of “national celebrity stature” in a format that appeals to the youth.

The programme is primarily being driven to give young voters an apt context of the “country’s situation pre-2013 and to trace India’s success stories in the last nine years”.

The top debaters of the institution discuss topics like ‘Yahi Samay Hai, Sahi Samay Hai- This is India’s time’; ‘Yahi Samay Hai, Sahi Samay Hai Nari Shakti ka Anmol Samay Hai’; ‘The Indian economy was best managed during the pandemic’ and ‘The era of Indian job seekers is coming to an end’.

The chief guests deliver a detailed comprehensive presentation aided with a PPT (Power Point Presentation) to communicate about India’s growth in the last nine years in different domain areas.

Unlike delivering long speeches, the speakers, which include union ministers, MPs and leading entrepreneurs, deliver interactive Power Point presentations.

The presentations are loaded with graphs and data “to intellectually engage with students” and create an effective two-way channel between the speaker and students.

The speakers have made effective presentations on topics such as ‘India’s Journey from Fragile 5 to Bright 5’, ’10 Transformations in 10 years’, ‘Women Empowerment’ and ‘India’s Rise to Become the Start-Up Capital of the World.’

The first season of New India Debates will witness over 30 episodes being shot at various leading universities in India as part of the massive outreach.

Episodes have been scheduled at various campuses such as National Law University, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi University, Ashoka University, VELS Group of Institutions, VIT Chennai Campus, Vijaybhoomi University and Shoolini University.

The events have drawn a large participation of students.

In the event held at Lovely Professional University near Jalandhar in Punjab, in which Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur was present, there were over 3,500 attendees.

The union minister also addressed the event at PSG College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore, and there were over 1,200 students.

Union Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani took part in the event at the Miranda House College, Delhi, BJP MP Tejasvi Surya at Manav Rachna University, Faridabad, and Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma at Galgotias University in Greater Noida.
