Nishant Kumar Set To Join JD(U)

Nitish Kumar’s son receives grand welcome in Patna as he moves toward formal political entry

March 8, 2026: A major political development is unfolding in Bihar as Nishant Kumar, son of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, moves closer to formally joining the Janata Dal (United). As Nishant headed to the party headquarters in Patna, supporters gave him a grand welcome, showering flowers on his convoy from a JCB machine while party workers gathered along the route and chanted slogans in his support.

At the party office, Nishant reached the Karpoori Auditorium, where he is expected to take formal membership of JD(U). Several senior leaders were present during the event, including Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, JD(U) working president Sanjay Jha and state minister Shravan Kumar, along with large numbers of party workers from across the state.

Nishant Kumar has largely stayed away from active politics in the past, though he has occasionally appeared alongside his father at public events. Party leaders and supporters have expressed hope that he will carry forward Nitish Kumar’s political legacy, with some even suggesting he could become a Member of the Legislative Council and potentially serve as Deputy Chief Minister in the future.
