Nitin Gadkari Unveils FASTag Annual Pass for Private Vehicles
June 18, 2025: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has announced the introduction of a FASTag-based Annual Pass for private non-commercial vehicles, such as cars, jeeps, and vans. This initiative aims to provide convenience for regular road users by offering unlimited toll access either for one year or up to 200 trips, whichever comes first. The pass is priced at ₹3,000 and will become effective starting August 15, 2025 .
The primary goals of introducing the FASTag Annual Pass are:
Reducing Toll Burden: Providing a cost-effective solution for frequent travelers, thereby reducing the cumulative toll expenses.
Enhancing Travel Convenience: Minimizing the need for repeated toll payments and reducing waiting times at toll plazas.
Promoting Digital Integration: Encouraging the use of digital payment systems, aligning with the government’s push towards a cashless economy.
Improving Traffic Flow: Streamlining toll collection processes to reduce congestion and enhance the overall travel experience.
This initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to modernize transportation infrastructure and provide better facilities to road users. By leveraging the existing FASTag system, the annual pass aims to offer a seamless and efficient tolling experience for private vehicle owners.
