‘No Videshi Chingari This Time’: PM Modi’s Jibe at Opposition as Budget Session 2025 Begins

PM Modi emphasises innovation, inclusion, and investment while addressing Parliament, marking the first budget session without foreign interference since 2014.

January 31, 2025: NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Friday, took a veiled dig at the opposition, highlighting that for the first time since 2014, there were no attempts to spark “foreign interference” ahead of a Union Budget session.

“This is perhaps the first session of Parliament since 2014, in which no foreign spark has flared up a day or two before, no attempt has been made to ignite a fire from abroad,” he said.

He further added, “I have been observing since 2014 that before every session, people are ready to create mischief, and here there is no dearth of people to support them. This is the first session I am seeing after 10 years in which no spark was ignited from any foreign corner.”

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has consistently accused the Congress party of aligning with foreign entities, including allegations of ties with US-based billionaire George Soros, and pushing anti-national narratives in Parliament.

Focus on ‘Viksit Bharat’ and Key Budget Goals

PM Modi laid out the agenda for the Union Budget 2025, underscoring the focus on ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India). He encouraged young MPs to actively participate in the session, stating, “This is a golden opportunity especially for young MPs. The more they engage in the House, the more they will witness the fruits of a developed India before their eyes.”

The economic strategy for this budget session revolves around “innovation, inclusion, and investment.” PM Modi stated, “During this session, many significant bills will be discussed and deliberated upon. These laws will strengthen the foundation of the nation.”

He also emphasized decisions for women’s empowerment, saying, “Many important decisions will be taken in this session, especially to re-establish the pride of women power, ensuring every woman gets a respectable life and equal rights without any discrimination of caste and creed.”

Upcoming Union Budget 2025

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to present the Union Budget 2025 on February 1. The first part of the Budget Session, which began on January 31, will continue until February 13. After a recess, the two Houses will reconvene on March 10, with the session concluding on April 4.
