December 18, 2024: In a rare act of accountability, 16 government employees of Noida’s residential plot department were made to stand and work for 20 minutes as punishment for delaying service to an elderly man. The strict action was ordered by Noida CEO Dr. Lokesh M, who noticed the delay via CCTV footage and acted promptly.

The incident took place on Monday at the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority office, a facility that serves hundreds of Noida residents daily. During a routine scan of the CCTV footage, the CEO noticed an elderly man waiting at a counter unattended. Despite directing the staff to address the man immediately and inform him if his issue could not be resolved, 20 minutes later, the same man was still waiting.
Frustrated with the lack of responsiveness, the CEO personally visited the residential department, reprimanded the employees, and ordered them to stand and work for 20 minutes as a corrective measure.
A video of the incident, which has since gone viral, shows staff members—including women—standing at their counters while continuing to work. The footage has sparked discussions online, with many social media users praising the CEO’s action as a much-needed step to improve efficiency in government offices.
Netizens hailed Dr. Lokesh M’s strict yet symbolic action as an effective move to hold government employees accountable and ensure better service delivery. Many lauded him for prioritizing senior citizens, who often face inconvenience in bureaucratic setups.
“This is how you ensure accountability. Respect for the CEO!” one user commented.
“Government offices need more officers like him who care about the public,” another wrote.
Since taking charge last year, Dr. Lokesh M has emphasized timely responses and professionalism in Noida offices, leveraging technology like CCTV monitoring to track employee performance.
