NSP Scholarship Released in Meghalaya,But Who’s Still Waiting?
June 23, 2025: The Meghalaya Education Department has released the first instalment of the Umbrella Post-Matric Scholarship for Scheduled Tribe (ST) students for the academic year 2024–25. The payment — amounting to 20% of the total scholarship — has successfully reached 66,000 eligible students with Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.
In a shift from previous years, the department is now ensuring that all eligible students receive funds in each instalment, instead of releasing money to only a fraction of students at a time.

“This new approach guarantees equal disbursement across all beneficiaries,” said the Commissioner & Secretary of Education, Government of Meghalaya. The remaining instalments will be released in the coming months, depending on the central government’s fund transfer schedule.
However, around 7,902 students have not yet received their first instalment. On June 20, 2025, these students were sent an SMS via the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), urging them to verify and update their Aadhaar seeding status with their respective banks.
They have been given a 15-day window to complete the Aadhaar-bank linking. Payments for these students will be processed only after this period ends, as the NSP system restricts premature payment processing.
The Education Department also clarified that the Umbrella Scholarship is distinct from the Chief Minister’s Scholarship Scheme, which was announced in the latest Budget Session. Registrations for the latter will open after formal notifications and guidelines are issued.
Students with questions can reach out to the department via email at dydhtetechnical2@gmail.com or call 7005037347 / 9077574956 for assistance.
