Agency cites “technical glitch” after complaints, allows students to raise objections till April 13
April 12, 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Sunday confirmed that it has corrected errors in 19 chemistry questions from the April 5 (Shift 2) exam of Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main) 2026 Session 2. The move follows widespread complaints from students and teachers over discrepancies in the provisional answer keys released on Saturday. The agency acknowledged the concerns and said the keys were reviewed with the help of subject experts.
According to officials, a technical glitch caused mismatches between question IDs and correct answer options in the chemistry section. The updated provisional answer keys have now been uploaded, and candidates can review them and raise objections if needed. NTA Director General Abhishek Singh had earlier assured students on social media that the issue would be examined promptly.
Students can challenge the answer key online by paying ₹200 per question until April 13. The agency stated that valid objections will lead to further revisions, and the final answer key will be binding for all candidates. The results for JEE Main 2026 Session 2 are expected by April 20. This year, over 11 lakh candidates appeared for the exam conducted across India and abroad.
