Omar Abdullah Urges Centre To Counter 'Boycott Kashmir' Campaign
May 29, 2025: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has made a direct appeal to the central government to identify and act against those behind the “Boycott Kashmir” campaign. Speaking to NDTV during his visit to Pahalgam and Gulmarg, Mr. Abdullah called the campaign an effort to weaken India by reinforcing terrorist agendas.
“Terrorists want tourists to stop visiting Kashmir. They want to destroy the peace and progress here. The people running this boycott campaign are helping the terrorists’ cause,” he said. He urged the central government to take the strictest action against those fueling this narrative.
On Wednesday, Mr. Abdullah and his council of ministers held a meeting at a resort in Baramulla to counter the perception of fear in the Valley. This followed another meeting in Pahalgam a day earlier. He met with tour operators from across India, aiming to revive tourism in Kashmir.

“Tourism should gradually get a revival — that’s our hope and our effort,” he said. To his delight, a meeting expected to have 20 tour operators saw over 70 participants.
Reflecting on the devastating April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which left 26 people dead, Mr. Abdullah emphasized, “The terrorists want no progress. They want tourists to stay away. But God willing, we will succeed.”
During his visits, the chief minister personally met tourists, took selfies, and gathered feedback on their Kashmir experience. On social media, he posted, “Met tourists at Gulmarg and was pleased to hear their encouraging feedback. Their joy and appreciation reflect the growing confidence in Kashmir as a welcoming and vibrant destination.”
