One Week Into Marriage, UP Man Kills Third Wife in Brutal Assault

Varanasi police arrest Raju Pal after his 26-year-old wife Aarti dies from injuries; couple had wed on May 9

May 18, 2025 | Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh: In a shocking case of domestic violence, a man in Amauli village of Varanasi district has been arrested for allegedly killing his third wife just a week after their marriage.

The victim, Aarti Pal (26) from Jaunpur, had married Raju Pal (44) on May 9 — his third marriage after two previous unions had ended. Clashes reportedly began almost immediately after the wedding.

On Thursday night, Raju allegedly beat Aarti severely during a domestic altercation. Neighbours alerted the police, who rushed her to Narpatpur Community Health Centre, where doctors declared her brought dead, according to Chaubepur SHO Jagdish Kuswaha.

The police have arrested Raju, and the victim’s body has been sent for post-mortem. An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause and circumstances surrounding her death.
