Operation Sindoor: Airlines Cancel Flights Across North India Amid Security Concerns Post Army Strikes

Air India, Air India Express, and SpiceJet suspend operations at key northern airports following India’s precision strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and PoJK.

New Delhi, May 7:
Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan following the Indian Armed Forces’ precision strikes on terror camps across the border, multiple airlines — including Air India, Air India Express, and SpiceJet — have suspended flights to and from several key northern cities as a precautionary measure.

In an official update shared on X, Air India announced the cancellation of all flights to and from Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot until 12 noon on May 7, pending further direction from aviation authorities.

“In view of the prevailing situation, Air India has cancelled all its flights to and from the following stations… pending further updates. Two international flights bound for Amritsar have also been diverted to Delhi. We regret the inconvenience caused due to this unforeseen disruption,” the airline stated.

Air India Express echoed the alert, urging passengers to confirm their flight status before heading to the airport. “Multiple flights on our network are impacted due to prevailing restrictions,” the airline said, sharing a link for booking updates.

SpiceJet, too, issued a similar advisory. In its statement, the carrier confirmed that airports at Dharamshala, Leh, Jammu, Srinagar, and Amritsar are currently closed. “Departures, arrivals, and consequential flights may be impacted. Passengers are advised to check their flight status before travel,” the airline posted.

The sweeping cancellations come just hours after India launched Operation Sindoor — a targeted military response to the Pahalgam terror attack — which involved air and precision strikes on nine terror hubs in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). As the situation remains fluid, aviation authorities and airlines are on high alert, ensuring passenger safety while maintaining operational readiness.

Passengers flying to or from affected regions are advised to stay updated via official airline websites and helplines.
