“The shock and anger are totally understandable. The images I have seen show a complete disregard for local sensitivities and that too during this holy month,” Abdullah stated.

Religious Leaders Demand Accountability

Senior cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, chairman of the Hurriyat Conference and chief priest of Srinagar’s Jama Masjid, also strongly condemned the event, calling it “outrageous.”

“That in the holy month of Ramzan, an obscene fashion show is organised in Gulmarg is unacceptable. The valley is known for its Sufi and saint culture. This cannot be tolerated,” he said, urging immediate accountability.

Social Activists Raise Concerns

Prominent activist Raja Muzaffar Bhat also slammed the event, questioning who permitted the fashion show.

“Who allowed this nude fashion show at Gulmarg during Ramzan? Semi-nude men and women walking on snow. Why are you hell-bent on demolishing our moral, ethical, cultural, and religious values?” he wrote in an online post.

Official Investigation Underway

With growing public outrage, Abdullah confirmed that his office is in contact with local authorities, and an investigation is underway to determine who authorized the event.

As tensions rise over the issue, political and religious groups in J&K are demanding strict action to prevent similar incidents in the future.
