AIMIM chief urges EAM Jaishankar to intervene as unrest grips Tehran

January 15, 2026: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has appealed to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar for urgent intervention to evacuate an Indian medical student stranded in Tehran amid ongoing unrest in Iran. The appeal followed social media pleas highlighting the difficulties faced by Indian students in the Iranian capital as protests intensify. Owaisi directly tagged the foreign minister on X, seeking immediate action to ensure the student’s safety.

According to Owaisi, the student, identified as Ayman Fatima from Noorkhan Bazar in Hyderabad, is studying at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences. He claimed her passport is currently with the university authorities and that her family has been unable to contact her. Owaisi added that the student’s father is presently in the UAE and shared her contact details and location online to underline the urgency of the situation.

The appeal was triggered by an earlier post from Mohammed Abulhasan, who identified himself as the student’s father and urged Indian authorities to evacuate students before conditions worsen. Owaisi’s request comes days after the Ministry of External Affairs issued a fresh advisory asking Indian nationals to avoid travel to Iran and urging those already there to remain cautious and stay in touch with the Indian Embassy as the security situation continues to evolve.
