Pahalgam Terror Attack: Owaisi Slams Security Lapses, Demands Accountability

AIMIM chief raises questions on lack of police presence, border breach; confirms attendance at all-party meeting on Amit Shah’s invitation

Hyderabad, April 24: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi has questioned the serious security lapses surrounding the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 people were killed and several injured. He asked how a high-footfall tourist spot could remain completely unguarded, and how terrorists managed to infiltrate Indian territory.

“A place filled with tourists had no police presence, no CRPF camp. The Quick Reaction Team (QRT) took over an hour to respond. This is a major failure,” Owaisi said in Hyderabad while addressing the media.

🔴 “They Asked About Faith Before Shooting”

Owaisi alleged that the attackers selectively targeted people based on their religion.

“These men shot tourists after asking their faith. They came from Pakistan, and Pakistan supports them. How did they cross the border? Who is responsible for this breach?” he asked.

The AIMIM leader warned that if militants could reach Pahalgam, they could just as easily threaten major cities like Srinagar, highlighting the gravity of the threat.

🗣️ Owaisi to Attend All-Party Meet on Terror Attack

Owaisi confirmed he will attend the all-party meeting in Delhi following a personal invitation from Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

“The Home Minister called me and asked where I am. He invited me to attend the meeting. I’m booking the earliest ticket,” he stated.

Earlier, Owaisi had urged the government to include smaller parties in the all-party meet, expressing disapproval after Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju reportedly suggested that only parties with five or more MPs would be invited.

“I asked why not include us, the smaller parties. Rijiju joked my voice is loud enough anyway,” Owaisi wrote on X.

⚠️ “Can’t the PM Spare One Extra Hour?”

Taking to social media, Owaisi emphasized that the meeting’s objective is to unite political voices against terrorism, questioning why Prime Minister Modi cannot dedicate extra time to hear out all parties, regardless of their size.

“The meeting is of national importance. If the idea is to send a message of unity, why exclude voices that matter?” he asked.

As the political debate intensifies over the deadliest terror attack since Pulwama, calls for greater vigilance, accountability, and cross-party unity are growing louder.
