BJP leader says Indus Treaty suspension will turn Pakistan into a desert; calls Pahalgam killings a “conspiracy to destroy Kashmir’s peace and tourism”
New Delhi, April 25:
BJP leader Syed Shahnawaz Hussain on Friday launched a blistering verbal assault on Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack, warning that the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty will leave Pakistan parched and desperate.
“Pakistan will become a desert… there will be no water to drink. They will beg for every drop,” said Hussain, calling the April 22 attack in Jammu and Kashmir “a hateful conspiracy” aimed at derailing peace and tourism in the Valley.

Condemning the killings of 26 civilians, including tourists, in the Baisaran meadow attack, Hussain alleged that religion was used to identify and target the victims.
He declared that India, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is united and prepared to fight the “last battle against terrorism,” asserting:
“1.4 billion Indians are united. Pakistan is scared, shaking, and has been exposed before the world. They will receive a reply in the language they understand.”
🚱 On the Indus Waters Treaty Suspension
Referencing the recent government decision to suspend the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty, Hussain said this move was not symbolic but strategic.
“The impact will be massive. Pakistan’s lifelines will dry up. The world now knows who sponsors terror, and they will face the consequences,” he stated.
🕌 Friday Protest and Political Unity
Hussain offered Friday Namaz wearing a black jacket in symbolic protest and mourning for the terror victims. He also praised RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat for distinguishing the issue as not religious but a battle “between righteousness and unrighteousness.”
He held Pakistan’s leadership, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief General Asim Munir, directly responsible for the attack, calling for decisive retaliation.
🛡️ Nation Responds with Unity
Following the attack, the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) chaired by PM Modi took several strong measures, including:
- Suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty
- Closure of the Attari Integrated Check Post
- Expulsion of Pakistani High Commission officials
- Suspension of SAARC visa privileges
Meanwhile, all major political parties stood in support of government action, with Rahul Gandhi stating, “The opposition has given full support to the government to take any necessary steps.”
As security forces continue combing operations in Kashmir, Hussain’s comments reflect a rising tide of political and diplomatic pressure on Pakistan amid global condemnation of the Pahalgam massacre.
