Congress leader posts ‘flight ticket’ amid ongoing unrest in state

February 14, 2026: Congress leader Pawan Khera has called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit violence-hit Manipur during his ongoing North-East tour, triggering a fresh political exchange. In a post on X, Khera remarked that while poll-bound states may be a priority, Manipur “should not be abandoned,” adding that the state has been facing unrest since 2023. His comments came as Modi visited Assam to inaugurate and flag off development projects worth over ₹5,450 crore.

Highlighting that Manipur is geographically close to Assam, Khera wrote that the Prime Minister’s presence could reassure residents. In a pointed political gesture, he claimed that the Congress had “even booked” a flight from Guwahati to Imphal for Modi and shared what he described as a ticket online. The message, which included a swipe referencing “PM CARES,” quickly gained traction on social media, drawing mixed reactions from supporters and critics over its tone and intent.

Manipur has witnessed prolonged unrest since 2023, with intermittent flare-ups continuing to shape the political discourse. Opposition parties have repeatedly criticised the Centre’s handling of the crisis and demanded direct intervention by the Prime Minister, while the government maintains that steps are being taken to restore peace and normalcy.
