Prime Minister addresses devotees at Somnath Swabhiman Parv

January 11, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed devotees at the Somnath Swabhiman Parv, calling the occasion deeply spiritual and historic. Speaking amid Vedic chants and ocean waves, he said the event symbolised India’s faith, heritage, and civilisational strength. PM Modi said it was his privilege to serve as Chairman of the Somnath Temple Trust during the landmark celebration.

Highlighting key features of the Parv, the Prime Minister spoke of the 72-hour continuous chanting of Om, drone shows tracing Somnath’s thousand-year journey, and the Shaurya Yatra with 108 horses. He paid tribute to devotees, warriors, and cultural protectors who sacrificed their lives to preserve Somnath and Sanatan traditions across centuries.

PM Modi emphasised that Somnath’s history represents reconstruction and victory, not defeat, recalling repeated attempts to destroy the temple and its eventual revival through collective faith. He noted the celebration marked both 1,000 years of Somnath’s journey and 75 years of its reconstruction in 1951, calling the temple a symbol of eternal faith, unity, and inspiration for India’s future.
