PM accuses party of ‘insulting the nation’ after Delhi protest

February 22, 2026: Narendra Modi on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the Congress over the controversy surrounding the AI Summit protest in Delhi, accusing the party of defending actions that “insulted the nation.” Speaking in Meerut after inaugurating the Namo Bharat Corridor, Modi said it was unfortunate that leaders of such an old political party were praising those involved instead of expressing regret. He alleged that whenever the Congress “fails to perform” in Parliament, it resorts to disruption and does not allow even its allies to speak, claiming that some partners have begun distancing themselves after the incident.

In a pointed message to the national media, the Prime Minister urged news outlets not to project criticism of the Congress as an attack on the entire Opposition. He argued that describing the controversy as an Opposition issue ends up shielding the Congress from direct accountability. The remarks underscored the BJP’s attempt to isolate the party politically amid the escalating row.

The AI Summit protest has intensified the war of words between the ruling BJP and the Congress, further sharpening political tensions ahead of upcoming debates and campaigns. The latest comments signal a deepening confrontation, with both sides trading allegations over decorum, dissent and national image.
