PM Modi Spoke To Me At Least 4 Times: Yogi Adityanath On Maha Kumbh Stampede

CM Yogi Adityanath reveals Prime Minister Modi’s direct involvement in managing the aftermath of the Maha Kumbh stampede, emphasizing swift administrative action.

January 29, 2025: After a tragic stampede at the ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath disclosed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had reached out to him multiple times to ensure a swift and effective response. The stampede, which occurred during the peak hours of the religious gathering, has raised concerns over crowd management at the mega event.

“PM Modi spoke to me at least four times to personally inquire about the situation and offer guidance on handling the aftermath. The administration has been instructed to act swiftly, ensuring that all necessary measures are in place to avoid further mishaps,” CM Yogi Adityanath told reporters in Lucknow.


Swift Administrative Action

The Uttar Pradesh administration has deployed additional security forces and medical teams to handle the situation. According to officials, the stampede occurred due to overcrowding at one of the main entry points near the Ganga ghats. Rescue operations were initiated immediately, and injured pilgrims were rushed to nearby hospitals.

“Ensuring the safety and well-being of the devotees is our top priority. Lessons will be learned from this incident, and steps are being taken to enhance crowd control measures,” the Chief Minister added.


Record-Breaking Footfall at Maha Kumbh

The Maha Kumbh 2025 has already witnessed an unprecedented turnout, with millions of devotees gathering for the sacred ritual of Mauni Amavasya. The government had projected a footfall of over 40 crore pilgrims during the event, making it one of the largest gatherings in human history.

However, the massive influx has posed logistical challenges, including crowd management and ensuring medical assistance. Experts suggest that infrastructural bottlenecks need urgent attention to manage the growing number of attendees.


PM Modi’s Commitment

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has been closely monitoring the Maha Kumbh arrangements, expressed condolences to the families of the victims. He also lauded the efforts of rescue teams and urged the state government to ensure seamless management for the remainder of the event.

“Such incidents are unfortunate, and we must do everything in our power to ensure the safety of all attendees,” PM Modi said in a public statement.
