Prime Minister intensifies political attack in Kerala, raises Sabarimala issue, promises probe and pushes BJP as alternative
April 4, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his second visit to Kerala within a week, addressed a rally in Thiruvalla, sharply targeting both the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF), while positioning the BJP as the only credible alternative. He accused both alliances of misleading the public on key issues, citing controversies around laws and films, and alleged a pattern of misinformation. The Prime Minister also made Sabarimala Temple a central theme, claiming irregularities and questioning the handling of related investigations.
Modi alleged that corruption and appeasement politics by the Left and Congress were impacting Kerala’s cultural and religious landscape. He said that under an NDA government, a thorough probe into alleged irregularities linked to both alliances would be ensured. Escalating his rhetoric, he described the BJP as the “only A-team” in Kerala politics. Addressing concerns over the ongoing West Asia conflict, he assured families of Indians working abroad that the government was in constant touch with Gulf nations and prioritising the safety of citizens, including stranded fishermen.
Highlighting development and welfare, Modi spoke about employment challenges in Kerala, noting migration of youth due to lack of opportunities. He emphasised the need for industrial growth, support for startups, and expansion of the service sector. The Prime Minister also underlined women-centric schemes and reiterated targets like increasing women’s representation in Parliament. On infrastructure, he highlighted projects like the proposed Sabarimala railway, accusing the state government of creating hurdles. Concluding his address, he called for “parivartan” (change), urging voters to move beyond both LDF and UDF.
