Defence Minister Rajnath Singh hails PM Modi’s milestone, calls it a symbol of dedication and long-standing public service

March 22, 2026: Narendra Modi has become the longest-serving head of a government in India, marking a major milestone in the country’s political history. According to Rajnath Singh, the Prime Minister has completed 8,931 days in public office, surpassing the previous record held by Pawan Kumar Chamling. Singh described Modi’s journey as one of “pure devotion to the nation,” congratulating him on what he called a remarkable achievement in public service.

Reflecting on his political career, Singh highlighted Modi’s tenure from his time as Gujarat Chief Minister to his current role as Prime Minister, emphasizing his “nation-first” approach and consistent commitment to governance. Modi’s leadership, he said, has been defined by integrity, dedication, and a focus on serving citizens, making his journey a continuous path of public service.

Narendra Modi began his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001, serving for over 13 years before becoming India’s 14th Prime Minister in 2014. He is the first non-Congress leader to secure a full majority and the first to complete two full terms and return for a third consecutive term. Having won the 2014, 2019, and 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Modi’s record underscores his enduring political influence and sustained public support.
