PM Modi Takes Holy Dip at Triveni Sangam During Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alongside CM Yogi Adityanath, participates in spiritual rituals at the world’s largest cultural and spiritual gathering.

February 5, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Mahakumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj on Wednesday, where he took a holy dip in the sacred Triveni Sangam, the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers.

Holding rudraksha beads and chanting mantras, the prime minister offered prayers while standing in the holy waters. He later took a boat ride with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to reach the Triveni Sangam, participating in the deeply spiritual and cultural experience.

The Mahakumbh Mela, which commenced on Paush Purnima (January 13), is regarded as the world’s largest spiritual and cultural congregation. The event will continue until Mahashivratri on February 26, attracting millions of devotees from across the globe.

PM Modi’s Contribution to Prayagraj’s Development
During his previous visit to Prayagraj on December 13, PM Modi inaugurated 167 development projects worth ₹5,500 crore. These projects aim to enhance the region’s connectivity, amenities, and services for the public.

Key Mahakumbh 2025 Updates

  • The Maha Kumbh, held every 12 years, has drawn over 38 crore pilgrims so far, according to the Uttar Pradesh government.
  • On Tuesday, Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk visited the Mahakumbh and participated in key spiritual rituals. He was also seen exploring the Digital Mahakumbh Experience Centre, showcasing a blend of spirituality and modernity.
  • Accompanied by CM Yogi Adityanath, the Bhutanese King offered prayers at the Lete Hanuman Mandir.

Security Arrangements
To ensure a seamless and secure experience for devotees, saints, and pilgrims, an extensive police and security setup has been deployed across the Mahakumbh fairgrounds. Forces are stationed at key locations, including intersections, pontoon bridges, Akhara routes, and bathing ghats.
