PM says ‘jungle raj’ in Bengal will end as BJP promises political change
March 14, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a strong attack on the All India Trinamool Congress during a rally in Kolkata, accusing the party of bringing “jungle raj” to West Bengal. Addressing supporters, Modi said the “countdown has begun” for the ruling party and asserted that political change in the state was inevitable. He added that the rule of law would return and those responsible for violence and wrongdoing would not be spared.
The prime minister said West Bengal once led India in trade and industry but claimed that the state’s youth are now forced to migrate elsewhere for jobs. According to Modi, many young people in the state struggle to find employment despite completing their education, forcing them to leave their homes in search of opportunities in other parts of the country.
During his speech, Modi invoked prominent Bengali figures such as Swami Vivekananda, Subhas Chandra Bose, Rabindranath Tagore and Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, saying the Bharatiya Janata Party would work to rebuild the Bengal they had envisioned. He also criticised the state government over agricultural issues and referred to the reported suicide of a potato farmer in Chandrakona, blaming what he described as anti-people policies of the ruling party.
