
PM Modi to Launch ₹12,930 Cr Projects in Meerut
PM to flag off Namo Bharat corridor, Metro services
February 22, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Meerut in Uttar Pradesh today to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for development projects worth around ₹12,930 crore. The visit is being seen as a major push for infrastructure growth and enhanced regional connectivity in western Uttar Pradesh.
During the programme, the Prime Minister will flag off the Namo Bharat corridor along with the Meerut Metro, aimed at improving urban mobility and reducing travel time between key economic centres. Officials said the projects span transport, urban development and public infrastructure, and are expected to boost economic activity and employment opportunities in the region.
The launch of the high-speed regional transit system is projected to transform daily commuting by offering faster, modern connectivity to thousands of passengers. Security has been tightened across Meerut ahead of the Prime Minister’s arrival, with large public gatherings expected at the venue.
