Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday paid a surprise visit to the Indian Air Force station at Adampur in Punjab, days after the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan following the high-intensity Operation Sindoor. The Prime Minister interacted with soldiers, lauding their valor and operational excellence.
Adampur was one of the airbases Pakistan tried to target with missiles and drones during the intervening night of May 9–10, in retaliation to India’s anti-terror strikes in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

🇮🇳 Reaffirming India’s Defence Posture
PM Modi’s visit comes a day after his national address, where he called India’s armed forces “formidable” and praised their “unwavering courage” during Operation Sindoor — a tri-services mission launched on May 7, targeting nine terror sites across the border.
“Our armed forces accomplished a difficult task with remarkable precision,” he said.
❌ Pakistan’s Claim Dismissed
During the counterattacks, Pakistan falsely claimed it had destroyed India’s advanced S-400 air defence system at Adampur using hypersonic missiles launched from JF-17 jets. Indian officials categorically rejected the claim, stating that the system remained fully operational, and Pakistan’s offensive was largely intercepted.
