Political Churn and National Developments Intensify
Parliament deadlock, security talks and global engagements shape the day
February 10, 2026: India is witnessing heightened political activity as the opposition prepares to move a no-confidence motion against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla amid the ongoing Budget Session stalemate. Reports indicate that more than 100 MPs have signed the notice, while opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, have held meetings with the Speaker to press their demands. The government, meanwhile, has sought assurances that parliamentary proceedings will function smoothly following opposition speeches, even as the impasse continues to disrupt legislative business.
Beyond Parliament, political debates are unfolding across the country over trade agreements, religious remarks by leaders, and recent election outcomes. Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed issues related to national security and Naxalism, while the Centre convened several high-level meetings on cybercrime, international trade policy and semiconductor manufacturing. These discussions come amid the government’s push to strengthen internal security and boost strategic industries.
Judicial and law-and-order developments also remained in focus, with courts hearing key cases linked to corruption, money laundering and social justice, alongside reports of crimes, accidents and fraud from multiple states. On the international and sports fronts, India deepened defence cooperation with Nepal by supplying military vehicles, while Pakistan confirmed it will face India in the ICC T20 World Cup match scheduled for February 15 in Colombo, adding a high-profile sporting dimension to the day’s developments.
