AAP Gears Up for February 5 Polls; BJP and Congress Prepare for High-Stakes Battle in the Capital

New Delhi, January 7: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal expressed confidence in securing a third consecutive term in the 2025 Delhi Assembly Elections, declaring that AAP workers are fully prepared for the electoral battle.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced that polling will be held on February 5, with vote counting scheduled for February 8.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Kejriwal said, “The date of the election has been announced. All the workers are ready to enter the fray with full strength and enthusiasm. This election will be between the politics of work and the politics of abuse. The people of Delhi will have faith in our politics of work. We will definitely win.”

AAP’s Preparedness for the Elections

Delhi Minister Gopal Rai asserted that AAP is fully prepared and has already announced candidates for all 70 assembly seats.
“The people of Delhi have been waiting for this. I am confident that they will once again bring back Arvind Kejriwal’s government. We are absolutely ready for the election,” Rai said.

AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the party’s connect with the people.
“The Aam Aadmi Party always stays amongst the people and works for them. We are fully prepared for the elections, and we hope the blessings of God and the people of Delhi will remain with us,” she stated.

Opposition Strategies and Key Battles

BJP candidate for the New Delhi constituency, Parvesh Verma, congratulated the people of Delhi on the start of the “festival of democracy.”
“Everyone should go and cast their votes. EVM is just an excuse for Arvind Kejriwal. BJP is going to form its government next month,” Verma said.

The New Delhi constituency is set to witness a fierce three-way battle, with Parvesh Verma (BJP) challenging Arvind Kejriwal (AAP) and Sandeep Dikshit (Congress), son of former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit.

The Congress, once dominant in Delhi, has struggled in recent assembly elections, failing to win a single seat in 2015 and 2020. The AAP swept the 2020 polls, securing 62 out of 70 seats, while the BJP managed only eight seats.
