BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri Accuses Atishi of Hooliganism Amid Delhi Polls

AAP Leader Atishi Alleges BJP’s Manish Bidhuri Violated Model Code of Conduct

New Delhi, February 4: The political battle in Delhi’s Kalkaji Assembly constituency has intensified as BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri accused AAP leader Atishi of spreading false rumors, engaging in hooliganism, and misbehaving with BJP workers. Bidhuri, who is contesting the Delhi Assembly elections from Kalkaji against Atishi (AAP) and Alka Lamba (Congress), has also filed a police complaint against Atishi.

In his statement, Bidhuri alleged that Atishi and her party workers threatened BJP workers and detained local residents in an attempt to intimidate voters. He cited an incident where a resident was allegedly stopped and detained for two hours by AAP workers.

“Atishi ji should respect the law and the Constitution. As the Chief Minister, sitting in a constitutional position, her scandalous actions that spread false rumors are inappropriate. If I am contesting in the election, what’s wrong with bringing my son and wife to campaign with me?” Bidhuri questioned.

He further alleged that AAP workers have been threatening BJP members and local residents.

“They are threatening our workers, and in Giri Nagar, they forcibly made someone sit inside a car. Moreover, at midnight, they stopped the car of a resident of Kalkaji and detained him for two hours. He had to call the police to get out of their hooliganism,” he claimed.

Atishi Fires Back, Accuses BJP of Violating Election Rules

Earlier on Monday, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Atishi accused BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri’s son, Manish Bidhuri, of violating the Model Code of Conduct by interfering in Kalkaji during the ‘silence period’ ahead of the polls.

Speaking to the media, Atishi alleged that Manish was present in Kalkaji with 3-4 outsiders, despite election rules prohibiting external interference in an assembly constituency once campaigning ends.

“We received information that Ramesh Bidhuri’s Tughlaqabad team was threatening people in the JJ Camp and Giri Nagar area. We saw that Ramesh Bidhuri’s son, Manish Bidhuri, was sitting here with 3-4 outsiders. I informed the administration, and the police have taken him. I hope strict action will be taken,” Atishi told ANI.

Police Take Action Against Both Sides

In response to Atishi’s complaint, Delhi Police confirmed that a case has been registered against Manish Bidhuri for violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). The Deputy Commissioner of Police, South East Delhi, Ravi Kumar Singh confirmed the action via an official post on X (formerly Twitter).

Meanwhile, the police have also taken action against Atishi for violating prohibitory orders and the MCC during the ongoing Delhi Assembly elections.

With Delhi set to vote on February 5, the political battle in Kalkaji has turned into a war of accusations, police complaints, and counterclaims. The election results will be declared on February 8, 2025.
