Indore (Madhya Pradesh), December 18: Madhya Pradesh Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya took a swipe at Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, calling her “immature” and urging her to adopt a fresh political outlook. He accused the Gandhi family’s ancestors of damaging the country with policies of “appeasement.”
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Vijayvargiya said,
“Priyanka Ji is still a little immature. She has to learn what to do and when. She should not imitate her ancestors, who caused much damage to the country through their appeasement policies. It is expected that she will bring new thinking into politics.”
Vijayvargiya’s remarks came after Priyanka Gandhi carried cloth bags highlighting various issues. On Monday, she sported a bag supporting Palestine, while on Tuesday, she displayed another with a message advocating for the protection of Hindu minorities in Bangladesh.
Priyanka’s criticism of the government over alleged atrocities against minorities in Bangladesh also sparked reactions. She said,
“Unlike narrow-minded individuals who differentiate between people, those who are noble consider the entire world as their family.”
She joined Opposition MPs carrying placards and bags with messages such as “Bangladesh ke Hindu aur Isaayion ke saath khadey ho” (Stand with Hindus and Christians of Bangladesh). The protest marked a significant shift in the Opposition’s approach, addressing concerns over the persecution of Hindus and Christians alongside other minorities.
Vijayvargiya also expressed strong support for the ‘One Nation, One Election’ bill introduced in the Lok Sabha, stating that it would streamline governance and save resources.
“This legislation will be beneficial for the nation. Development work gets hampered due to frequent elections, but this will no longer happen. It will save a lot of money,” he said. He criticized the Opposition for opposing the bill, calling it their “duty to oppose everything” without considering the nation’s benefit.
The BJP has criticized Priyanka Gandhi’s recent actions, including her display of support for Palestine and minorities in Bangladesh, as attempts to divert attention. Priyanka’s gestures, however, were seen as signaling broader concerns for minority rights, challenging BJP’s approach while highlighting the need for justice for Hindus and Christians in neighboring countries.
