Will be Chief Guest at IAF’s Vayu Shakti 2026 exercise
February 27, 2026: A major development has unfolded in Rajasthan as President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Jaisalmer to attend the Vayu Shakti 2026 exercise. The President is set to fly for the first time in the indigenously developed HAL Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), marking a significant moment in India’s defence journey. She will serve as the Chief Guest at the Indian Air Force’s mega combat demonstration showcasing its fighter capabilities.
President Murmu has previously flown in Sukhoi and Rafale fighter jets, and her upcoming sortie in the Tejas underscores confidence in India’s homegrown defence platforms. Indian Air Force Chief A. P. Singh will also participate in the event, flying another twin-seater Tejas aircraft alongside trained pilots.
The high-profile participation highlights India’s growing self-reliance in defence manufacturing and the operational readiness of the Indian Air Force. Vayu Shakti 2026 is expected to demonstrate advanced aerial combat capabilities, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to strengthening indigenous military technology.
