After joint meeting with Congress, RJD leader claims united INDIA bloc ready to fight on real issues like unemployment, migration, and poverty
Patna (Bihar), April 16: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday declared that the people of Bihar are ready for change and have firmly decided to vote the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) out of power in the upcoming general elections.
Speaking to reporters after a joint strategy meeting with Congress leaders in Patna, Tejashwi asserted that the INDIA bloc—an alliance of opposition parties including RJD and Congress—will fight the elections unitedly, focusing on core issues plaguing the state.
“Today we had a meeting with Congress colleagues. Discussions were held on how to free the people of Bihar from unemployment, from crime, stop mass migration, and what our collective vision will be,” said Tejashwi.
“One thing is certain—the public has made up its mind to get rid of the NDA.”
“NDA’s 20-Year Rule Has Failed Bihar”
Tejashwi launched a scathing attack on the ruling NDA, blaming it for Bihar’s persistent status as India’s poorest state even after two decades of governance.
“Even after 20 years of NDA rule, Bihar still has the lowest per capita income, the lowest farmers’ income, and the highest migration rate. It’s time for change,” he said.
He emphasised that the opposition alliance would focus on real issues during its campaign.
“We want to contest elections based on issues. It is our duty to expose the government’s shortcomings,” he added.
INDIA Bloc to Meet Again on April 17
Tejashwi confirmed that another alliance-wide meeting is scheduled in Patna on April 17 to finalise strategies and address remaining issues with other alliance partners.
On the question of a Chief Ministerial face, he said the decision would be taken unanimously by alliance leaders.
“We will discuss and decide the CM face together. As for Nitish Kumar—he has already been ‘hijacked’ politically. NDA will not form the government this time,” the RJD leader stated confidently.
Congress Echoes Unity & Coordination
Bihar Congress President Rajesh Kumar reiterated that the INDIA bloc is on the same page and functioning smoothly.
“The meeting was positive and coordinated. We’ll make decisions step-by-step and fight the NDA together,” Kumar said.
As Bihar gears up for a crucial election, the RJD-Congress alliance is clearly positioning itself as the alternative with a development-driven vision and strong regional leadership.
