
Punjab Police Seize 4 Kg Opium, Arrest Two Uttar Pradesh Residents in Jalandhar

Punjab Police arrested two brothers from Uttar Pradesh with 4.2 kg of opium near Bhogpur on the Jammu-Jalandhar highway on Saturday. The accused were using public transport to distribute narcotics across Punjab, according to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Harvinder Singh Virk.

The suspects, identified as Wasim (24) and Rafique (40), residents of Fazilpur, Sujanpur in Aligarh district, were intercepted by a police team at Adda Ladra in Bhogpur while en route to Hoshiarpur.
“They were on their way to deliver the consignment when our team apprehended them,” SSP Virk said. A case has been registered at Bhogpur police station under Sections 18(c), 61, and 85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The police have taken the duo into custody for further interrogation to trace the source of the opium and identify their intended buyers.
