Punjab Temple Blast Sparks Political Row: BJP Slams AAP Government Over Worsening Law & Order
š New Delhi, March 15: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly condemned the recent grenade attack at Thakurdwara Temple in Amritsar, with national spokesperson Shahzad Poonawalla accusing the Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of failing to maintain law and order in Punjab.
Poonawalla claimed that under AAPās rule, Punjab has seen a sharp rise in attacks, including multiple grenade incidents targeting police stations, raising concerns about security failures in the state.
š¢ "Ever since Aam Aadmi Party's government came to power, the law and order situation has become terrible. All these grenade attacks have happened in a chain manner, with some even targeting police stationsā¦ Meanwhile, the police are busy protecting Arvind Kejriwal," he said in an interview.
šØ Incident: Late Friday night, two unidentified bike-borne attackers lobbed an explosive device at the Thakurdwara Temple in Khandwala, Amritsar.
š¹ CCTV Footage: Surveillance cameras captured two young men on a motorcycle, one of whom was carrying a flag, loitering near the temple before launching the attack.
š Casualties: No injuries were reported, but the attack has sent shockwaves through the state, prompting an immediate police investigation.
š® Forensic Investigation: Authorities reached the scene promptly, securing evidence and reviewing CCTV footage to trace the attackers.
Amid rising concerns about security breaches in Punjab, Amritsar Police Commissioner GPS Bhullar has pointed to Pakistanās intelligence agency, ISI, as a key suspect in orchestrating the attack.
š¢ *"We received information at 2 a.m. and rushed to the site. The forensic team was called in, and after reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to locals, we believe that Pakistan's ISI is luring Punjabās youth into creating disturbances," Bhullar stated.
He assured the public that the case would be solved within days, adding:
š¢ "We will catch the culprits soon. I urge Punjabās youth not to ruin their lives by getting involved in such activities."
š Investigation Ongoing: Police teams have seized the CCTV footage, and a manhunt is underway to track down the perpetrators.
The attack has escalated political tensions, with BJP accusing AAP of failing to safeguard Punjab while the police remain preoccupied with political duties.
