Swift police work in Agra uses digital trail to solve murder of missing man within a day
April 5, 2026: In a shocking case near Agra, police solved a murder within 24 hours after a seemingly minor clue — a liquor bottle — led them to the accused. The partially burnt body of a man, identified as Lokendra, was discovered by the roadside after he had gone missing on April 1. What appeared to be a complex case took a decisive turn when investigators scanned the QR code on an empty liquor bottle found at the scene, which revealed the exact shop where it had been purchased.
Using this information, police accessed CCTV footage from the store and identified the victim along with two men, later traced as Mahesh and Dharamveer. During questioning, Mahesh allegedly confessed to having an affair with Lokendra’s wife. Police said the victim had opposed the relationship, leading to rising tensions. According to investigators, the trio conspired to eliminate him, with Mahesh and his associate luring Lokendra to a secluded area under the pretext of drinking together.
After consuming alcohol, the accused allegedly strangled Lokendra and set his body on fire in an attempt to destroy evidence. The victim was later identified through a tattoo, while the digital trail and confessions helped police arrest the woman, her lover, and his accomplice swiftly. The case highlights how technology and quick investigative work played a crucial role in cracking the crime.
