Maintenance work disrupts services across multiple states till April 24

April 1, 2026: Indian Railways has temporarily cancelled several trains on the Bilaspur–Raipur route under South East Central Railway (SECR), causing inconvenience to passengers across multiple states. The disruption is part of large-scale maintenance and infrastructure upgrade work being carried out along this busy corridor.

Repair and modernisation work is underway at key locations, including Gondia Railway Station, where platform renovation and track upgrades are in progress. Additional works include new track laying in the Jharsuguda section and yard modernisation at Akaltara railway station. These projects have led to the temporary closure of the main line, affecting train operations not just in Chhattisgarh but also impacting connectivity to states like Maharashtra, West Bengal, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, and Delhi.

Between April 5 and April 24, a total of 14 trains—including 10 express and 4 passenger services—have been cancelled on different dates. Major affected trains include the Shalimar–Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express, Korba–Amritsar Chhattisgarh Express, Hazrat Nizamuddin–Raigarh Gondwana Express, Gyaneshwari Express, and Visakhapatnam–Hazrat Nizamuddin Express.
