Chief Minister meets families, announces financial aid and remembers frontline sacrifices
April 1, 2026: Rekha Gupta met the families of frontline workers who lost their lives during the COVID-19 pandemic, paying tribute to their service and sacrifice. She acknowledged that these workers placed duty above everything else, dedicating themselves to protecting the people of Delhi during one of the most challenging times.
The Chief Minister handed over financial assistance of ₹1 crore each to six affected families, support that had been pending for years. She assured them that the government stands firmly with them in every situation, emphasizing a commitment rooted in honor, empathy, and resolve. The move was seen as a significant step in recognizing the contributions of those who served on the frontlines.
An additional ₹1 crore was also provided to the family of Delhi Police Traffic Unit ASI Radhey Shyam, who died in the line of duty. Gupta said that while no compensation can truly make up for such a loss, the assistance reflects the government’s unwavering resolve. She described the fallen workers as “karma yogis,” whose sacrifices will always be remembered with gratitude.
