New Delhi: Over the years, India’s Republic Day has been graced by global leaders, including former US President Barack Obama, Japan’s Shinzo Abe, and Russia’s Vladimir Putin. However, due to the Covid pandemic, no chief guests were invited in 2021 and 2022.
This year marks a special occasion as French President Emmanuel Macron attends as the chief guest, reciprocating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to France on its National Day in July 2023. President Macron’s visit also celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Strategic Partnership between India and France.
