RSS Centenary Celebrated in Mumbai

Mohan Bhagwat stresses service, humility over fame

February 8, 2026: Mumbai hosted a grand event to mark the 100th anniversary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), drawing around 1,200 invitees from across fields, including film personalities such as Salman Khan. The centenary celebration highlighted the organisation’s century-long journey in social and cultural work, reflecting its deep-rooted presence in public life.

Addressing the gathering, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat spoke about the organisation’s guiding philosophy, emphasising that service must take precedence over personal publicity. “Our work is about spreading values, not publicity. Actions matter more than the individual,” he said, cautioning that excessive fame often leads to ego. Bhagwat underlined that recognition should never overshadow the cause, and that commitment to duty remains central to the RSS ethos.

Touching upon leadership and continuity, Bhagwat referred to the tradition of stepping aside at 75, noting that organisational roles are decided collectively by volunteers. He remarked that positions are secondary to purpose, adding that as long as one is capable, the work must go on. His comments reinforced the RSS vision of discipline, humility, and lifelong service, setting the tone for the organisation’s future path.
